What is Lishi Tool?

A Lishi tool is a combination picking, tensioning, and decoding tool all in one slick small package about the size of a small pocket knife. It has graduated lines on the side of the tool to make pick tip placement easy and simple to manipulate. However, more importantly, the Lishi tool can be used to replicate the bitting values of a key. The bitting code is the translated blind code which a locksmith can use to cut a blank key and thereby manufacture an actual key.

 It’s a time saving way to open locked cars or make replacement keys. Each tool is inserted into a vehicle lock and used to pick the lock to a position where it traps the wafers. The wafer depth can then be read to determine the cuts for a replacement key.
